Random Access Memory (RAM) is defined as a computer storage location which enables information to be stored and accessed quickly from the random locations within DRAM on the memory module. Since, the information is accessed randomly in place of sequentially such as a CD or hard drive the computer is able to access data much faster than it would if it was only reading the hard drive. Thus, unlike ROM and the hard drive RAM is a volatile memory and need power for keeping the data accessible, if the power is lost all data present in the memory gets lost.
