What is ICMP protocol:
ICMP stands for Internet Control Message Protocol

This is a Network Layer Internet protocol that can report errors and position information. We can utilize the ping command to send ICMP echo request messages and record the receipt of ICMP echo response messages. With such messages, we can identify network or host communication failures and troubleshoot general TCP/IP connectivity troubles.
