In line drawing algorithms, all rasterzed positions do not match with the true line and encompass to symbolize a straight line. This problem is rigorous in low resolution screens. In these screens line looks like a stair-step. This effect is termed as aliasing.

The procedure of adjusting intensities of pixels all along the line to minimize the consequence of aliasing is termed as antialiasing.
