4G stands for the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. It is considered as the successor to 3G and 2G standards. The nomenclature of generations usually refers to alterations in the fundamental nature of service. First was move from the analogue (1G) to the digital (2G) transmission. This was followed by the spread spectrum transmission, multi-media support and around 200 k bit/s (3G) and now 4G that refers to all the IP packet-switched networks, mobile ultra-broadband access and the multi-carrier transmission.
