Science of metals is employed to get metals with superior quality and higher in-service performance.

Casting is forming techniques which are based upon melting metals and pouring them in molds with desired shapes, so that subsequent to solidification desired properties are achieved.

Forging is the solid state forming technique that means it involves no melting. Forging stock is heated up to suitable temperature (it is usually so hot which appears red/white) and then application of pressure cause plastic deformation of stock. Thus, stock takes on negative shape of die. Heating facilitates forming, that is, makes probable forming at a smaller load.
