Sound is a mechanical energy disturbance which propagates via matter as a wave. Sound is characterized by the different properties that are frequency, period, wavelength, amplitude and speed or velocity. The scientific study of sound is termed as acoustics.
Noise and sound frequently mean the similar thing however a noise is an unwanted sound. In science and engineering, noise is an unwanted component which obscures a signal.
