State the merits and de-merits of the Mobile TCP?

Advantage :

a) M-TCP manages TCP end-to-end semantic. The SH does not send any ACK itself however forwards ACKs from the MH.
b) If MH gets disconnected, the M_TCP prevents the useless retransmissions, slow starts or breaking the connections by simply shrinking the window of the sender to 0;
c) As, M-TCP does not buffer the data in SH as I-TCP does, it is not essential to forward the buffers to the new SH. Lost packets will be automatically resend to new SH.

Disadvantage :

a) Since SH does not act as the proxy as in I-TCP, packet loss over the wireless link because of the bit errors is promulgated to the sender. M-TCP considers a low bit error rate that is not always the valid assumption.
b) A modified TCP upon the wireless link not only need any modification to MH protocol software however also new network elements such as the bandwidth manager.
