Main portions of eukaryotic cell: The eukaryotic cell can be split into two main parts: the cell membrane which separates the intra-cellular space from the outer space physically delimiting the cell; the cytoplasm that is the interior part filled with cytosol (that is, the aqueous fluid within the cell); and the nucleus, the membrane-delimited internal area which contains the genetic material.
