The granularity is the lowly level of information stored up in the fact table. The depth of data level is named as granularity. In date dimension the level could be quarter, month, year, period, day, week of granularity.

The procedure consists of the two steps which are illustrated below:

•  Examining the dimensions which are to be included.
•  Examining the location to place the hierarchy of each and every dimension of information.
