Forces which make flow of water in plants
Specify the forces which make the water to flow inside the xylem from roots to leaves?
Expert
Water enters the roots because of the root pressure and the water column is managed within the xylem from roots to the leaves. The most important factor which makes water ascend includes transpiration, majorly in the leaves. As leaves lose the water through the transpiration their cells tend to pull more water forming suction inside the xylem. The cohesion property of the water which keeps its molecules bound (one pulls the other) by the hydrogen bonds helps the process.
