Third generation or 3G wireless networks will provide faster data transfer rates as compared to the current networks. The first generation of wireless or 1G was analog cellular. The second generation or 2G is digital cellular, featuring the integrated voice and the data communications so known as 2.5G networks provide the incremental speed increases. 3G networks will provide the dramatically increased data transfer rates, allowing the new wireless applications like streaming media.
