Public folders are similar to the mailbox stores; however the detail in a public folder store is contained in dedicated database. Exchange 2007 deemphasizes public folders. Public folders might not be included in prospect releases; however support for public folders will be maintained by at least 2016. Current Microsoft Exchange customers must plan to transfer to Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2007. We suggest that you inspect integrating Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by Exchange Server 2007 if you should have an application which supports sharing documents, contacts, calendar items, and archiving and tasks distribution lists. For further customized applications which are being developed, you must use Microsoft .NET.
