Define ICMP: ICMP is Internet Control Message Protocol that is a network layer protocol of TCP/IP suite employed by hosts and gateways to send notification of datagram troubles back to the sender. This employs the echo test/reply to test whether a destination is responding and reachable. It as well handles both control and error messages.
