Is monoculture a system which contributes to great biological diversity of the ecosystem?

Monoculture signifies that in large regions a single crop (only one species of the plant) is cultivated. Thus, monoculture doesn’t contribute to the formation of the community with great variety of species in area. Because there is only a single type of producer the types of consumers which can live in the area are as well restricted.
