Biological diversity-environmental injuries

How can a great biological diversity preserve an ecosystem from environmental injuries? Why are less bio-diverse ecosystems in the risk of suffering deep biological injuries if submitted to even small alters?

In the ecosystems with the more biodiversity, the food ecological and webs interactions between living beings are more diverse and complex. In such type of ecosystems, environmental alters can easier be compensated by multiplicity of accessible resources, foods and survival options.

In the ecosystems with very less biodiversity, the individuals are more reliant on some beings which serve them as food and they interact with the small number of various species. In such type of ecosystems, basically, abiotic factors are restrictive and the species are more specialized to such situations and more sensitive to environmental alters. Even small environmental injuries can cause big disturbances in equilibrium of ecosystem.
