Access point name or APN recognizes an IP packet data network (PDN), which a mobile data user wishes to communicate with. Additionally to recognize a PDN, an APN may also be utilized to describe the kind of the service, (for example: connection to the multimedia messaging service (MMS), wireless application protocol (WAP) server), which is offered by the PDN.
