This assignment is meant for you to apply what you've learned from the second part of the course to a popular topic of interest every February: Super Bowl ads.

Companies pay big bucks each year for a Super Bowl ad (~$5 million for a 30-second spot!!!), but we should ask: Is it worth it? Is what they're doing effective? The following assignment will look at these issues in further depth.

For this assignment, choose one advertisement from this year's Super Bowl. For reference, videos of most of this year's ads can be found here:

Writing Assignment

Watch the commercial a few times. Then, think about the following:

1. Planning and Development.

What element(s) of creativity are used here? What's the major selling idea?

2. Implementation and Evaluation.

What appeal is being used here? Does this align with the major selling idea? What execution technique is used? Does this match up with the appeal you just discussed?

3. Overall Thoughts

Would you have changed anything about this ad in order to give it a stronger overall message? If you were the company, would you have spent $5 million for this ad - or would your money have been better spent elsewhere, on other advertising mediums?

Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:

1. The answer should be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides.

2. The response also include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
