Select one of the following topics, and compose an essay to answer the question(s):
• Discuss the major military campaigns, battles, and leaders (Union and Confederate) in the Eastern theater of the Civil War from the fall of 1862 to the conclusion of the war in April/May 1865. In your estimation, could the outcome of the war have been decided differently? Include in your essay whether or not technological innovations and advances played a role in the outcome of the war.
• Discuss the major military campaigns, battles, and leaders in the Western theater of the Civil War from the Fall of 1862 to the conclusion of the war in April/May 1865. In your estimation, could the outcome of the war have been decided differently? Include in your essay whether or not technological innovations and advances played a role in the outcome of the war.
• Why was the North victorious in the Civil War? What were the major factors in the victory of the North over the South? What could have happened to cause a different outcome to this war?
Your essay must be a minimum of two pages and must use at least your textbook and two articles from the CSU Online Library. Any information from outside sources must be cited and referenced in APA format, and your paper should be formatted in APA style to include a title page, running head, and reference page.
Articles can be from any library database accessible through the CSU Library, though America: History and Life with Full Text is strongly suggested. Any article used must be a full-text article and academic in nature, and reviews are not acceptable to fulfill this requirement. Library staff is available to help you locate an article for your chosen subject.
