ERP is short for Enterprise Resource Planning and it is business process management software that allows an organization to use a system of integrated application to manage the business and to automate many back office functions related to technology, services, and human resources. ERP is a powerful business tool. Many companies have several departments that together make the business. For example one manufacturing plant may have shipping, accounting, procurement, sales, customer service, marketing, production, and operation departments that all work together to bring their business together and function. A staffing firm may have a person who scours resumes and inputs the data in their database if they match open positions. Other departments may be credentials, references and backgrounds, recruiter, and the benefits and hiring coordinator. With business process management software these tasks and departments are accessible and connected together through a database.
